Meltzer Lippe Forum Welcomes Senator Robert Menendez – 2/4/18 1PM

Senator Menendez is on the Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs, Finance and Foreign Relations committees. Senator Bob Menendez’s story is a quintessential American story. He grew up the son of Cuban immigrants in Union City and has risen to become one of 100 United States Senators. He served as Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee in the 113th Congress. He has earned a national reputation for his international leadership in the Senate, which pairs with his long-time reputation as a fighter for New Jersey families who puts their economic security ahead of powerful special interests. Senator Menendez’s career has been a tribute to his desire to protect the powerless from the powerful and ensure fairness for every American. Bob has been widely recognized for his leadership on promoting safe and healthy families. As a member of the Finance Committee, he has sponsored legislation increasing access to health care, advocated for fairness in the tax code to help middle class families get college educations and be able to retire, and Bob has pushed for trade initiatives to ensure America’s global competitiveness. Meltzer Lippe Forum Welcomes Senator Mark Warner -2/1/18 5PM

Senator Warner is Vice Chair of the Senate Intelligence Committee looking into the Trump Administration Russia ties. He also serves on the Senate Finance, Banking, Budget, and Rules Committee. Senator Warner has been recognized as a national leader in fighting for our military men and women and veterans, and in working to find bipartisan, balanced solutions to address our country’s debt and deficit. He is often mentioned as a potential presidential candidate in 2020. The first in his family to graduate from college, Mark Warner spent 20 years as a successful technology and business leader in Virginia before entering public office. An early investor in the cellular telephone business, he co-founded the company that became Nextel and invested in hundreds of start-up technology companies that created tens of thousands of jobs. “Structuring Preferred Partnership Freezes in Estate Planning: Navigating the Chapter 14 Valuation Rules”.

David C. Jacobson is presenting this live webinar. It will provide estate planners, advisers and tax counsel with a comprehensive exploration into the planning and structuring challenges and tax benefits of “freeze partnerships” as a tool for inter-generational wealth transfer. The speaker will discuss how to determine when freeze partnerships are the optimal vehicle for preserving basis, how to draft the partnership agreement and operating documents to ensure optimal tax treatment, and how to navigate the complex rules of Internal Revenue Code Chapter 14.
